This tour visits
COLOGNE and AACHEN
, two of Germany’s most famous cities,
to experience their wonderful Christmas markets.
These markets are the centrepiece of the holiday season
in Germany, and all those who visit will be charmed by
the magic and merriment of Christmas. You will be
able to stroll past gaily decorated booths, brimming
with handcrafted glass and wooden ornaments, listen to
traditional holiday music, and smell the delicious aroma
of gingerbread and mulled wine.
We depart early Friday morning,
and drive through France and Belgium and on into Germany
and the Roman Spa City of AACHEN, where
we visit our first Christmas Market. An
added bonus is being able to shop at the
Lindt chocolate factory for a massive
selection of seasonal chocolates at great prices.
One of the best places in Germany to buy
traditional smokers and other holiday items is the
famous
Käthe Wohlfahrt
Christmas Shop in Aachen.
Our 4 star hotel is centrally
located in the historic Cathedral City of
COLOGNE
.
You will have the whole day on Saturday to explore
Cologne, shop in its many fine shopping precincts and
visit the 4 fabulous 
Christmas Markets located within the
city.
Our
return journey takes us through Belgium, where we stop
in BRUGES
, one of Europe’s
most beautiful medieval cities, for lunch and shopping.
Perhaps pick up some delicious Belgian chocolates and
lace.
And if you regret not buying that
special item at Käthe Wohlfahrt’s in Aachen, then
don’t worry, Käthe has another two shops in Bruges if
you still have any room left in your suitcase!
