Cornish Engine HousesCORNWALL IN SPRINGTIME
Friday 28th March - Sunday 30th March 2008
(All Schools Break
)

Visit the beautiful and mysterious South-West corner of England, CORNWALL

Our route to the far west takes us through the ANCIENT KINGDOM OF WESSEX, which gives us an opportunity to visit the historic city of WELLS – England’s smallest city.   Wells has one of the finest cathedrals in the land and one of the oldest surviving medieval streets in Europe.  We shall also visit GLASTONBURY – The legendary burial place of King Arthur, and an area steeped in myth and mystery.  Our journey will also take us across the rich pastures of SOMERSET and DEVON, and over mysterious BODMIN MOOR, once the haunt of smugglers and highwaymen.

Carbis Bay Hotel
Our stay for 2 nights is in CARBIS BAY, a picturesque part of ST IVES, where our lovely hotel is situated in a sheltered bay of golden sand.  It also boasts an award winning restaurant.  There are glorious coastal walks along the shore and magnificent views of the Atlantic from the cliffs.  ST IVES houses its own branch of the TATE GALLERY and is one of Cornwall’s most beautiful and atmospheric coastal villages.  It also boasts its own artist’s colony.  St Ives has recently been voted to be amongst the very best beaches in the world!

TintagelOn Saturday we take a spectacular drive along the Atlantic coast of Cornwall to LANDS END. This area of wild and magnificent countryside has a higher concentration of prehistoric monuments than anywhere else in Britain.  You will also see  PENZANCE (immortalised in the Opera, ’The Pirates of Penzance’), and ST MICHAEL’S MOUNT.

On our return journey you will have time to visit TINTAGEL with its awe inspiring castle ruins (legendary home of King Arthur) and the ancient little port of BOSCASTLE with its rugged and beautiful coastline.

WHAT OTHER PEOPLE HAVE SAID ABOUT THIS TOUR...

Cornwall trip was good because it had things for everyone to do.  I learned a lot about King Arthur. I like the beach time, the hotel was very clean and the food was good and the views were good too.
Greg Harrison aged 11 from ASL

Cornwall - Hotel was Great.  Lands End and Tintagel were our favourites.
Kathleen & Joe, Sara, Matthew & Benjamin Alcorn   CAWC, ACS Hillingdon

The trips are extraordinarily good value for the money.  Very organized and planned out – great for the kids, we can always count on the quality of Gemmaway trips no matter where we go.  Keaton (10) says it was a fantastic trip but please warn me next time about the walk the Tintagel (but it was worth it!).
Dawn and Larry Huff & Keaton (10) – KCWC
